A wolf hybrid/dog is the result of a cross between a wolf and a dog. The wolf and the dog belong to the same species, Canus Lupus familiaris, so the nameĒ hybridĒ isnít correct. We talk about wolf dogs instead. The difference with known wolf dog breeds is that in these wolf dogs different kind of wolves and dog breeds are used, like Malamute, Husky or Shepherds, etc.... so no guaranties can be given on the the appearance or character of these wolf dogs. The wolf part in these animals is indicated bij a %. one can say: the more wolf %, the more wolf behavior , and a more difficult manageability . So, animals with a mid and higher % wolf blood are more suitable for those who already have a lot of experience with wolf dogs. It's very important to seek a breeder who breed wolfy stable dogs.
HYBRIDS / WOLFDOGS
In the beginning we called our wolf dogs the American wolf dogs. This only was an indication to the roots of our animals., and not to pretend it's a breed. It's just the fact they come from different kind of wolves and dog breeds, that gives us hope they have an excellent health, which sadly is missing in the wolfdog breeds. On request of the breeder we call our dogs Spencer wolf dogs now, as an indication of the line they belong to, and to prevent any mix-up with other breeders in America. What attracted us to this breeder was the balance that she has found between really wolfy appearance and character , but even very manageable and very reliable wolf dogs. So our advice towards interested owners is that they have to think very thorough before they throw themselves into this avenger, and to look for a reliable breeder.
The origin of this breed is a cross between wolf and German shepherd. The females meager about 60 to 70 cm, the males 65 to 75 cm. There are 3 colors recognized: wolf gray, brown and white. Most females are in heat 1x a year, like the wolf and the first time at the age of 2 years. The Saarloos has a very narrow population, and itís very hard to keep a good and healthy population. The Saarloos reacts very alert and cautious towards strange persons and environments. Like most wolf dogs they need a good socialization. The most wonderful part of this breed is the love and attachment they give to there family. They are almost all very calm dogs, even lazy when they get older.

AMERICAN TUNDRA SHEPHERD DOG
This breed is the result of a government experiment in the late 60ís. It was believed that crossing a wolf with a German shepherd would produce a superior stock, combining the strength, higher intelligence, greater stamina, better eyesight, hearing and nose of the wolf with the all-around temperament and ease of training of the shepherd. In 1968, Frank Catania, who had 11 years of experience training dogs for the military and private , undertook a 5 year government program producing these wolfdogs for military use in Vietnam and elsewhere. But as with many wolfdogs, the program failed. They were good for tracking , but they were not motivated to attack a person, they had no desire to be protective towards men. After these 5 years, the program stopped, but they wanted to create a new breed, in 1976, some of the 50% crosses were bred back to German shepherds. , after a while, these 25% wolfdogs became a new breed, the American tundra shepherd dog! Now, thereís a strict breeding program, the puppyís have to be examined by a certified breed warden, exterior and character are been followed , so this evaluation can help predict what work related field is suitable for each of these wolfdogs. The American tundra shepherd dog is a massive, powerful animal, alert, nervously pacing back and forth, edgy in his awareness of every sound and motion

American Indian (Singing) dog
before the Native Americans got their horses they had this special dog. For
thousands of years, Native Americans used these dogs for hunting, tracking,
guarding and herding .and they pulled the family’s travois as they moved
or migrated. The American Indian dog is an intelligent, loyal and instinctive
animal but can be reticent towards strangers. This dog has a very expressive
body language and thanks to his high communication voice it looks as dough
he’s singing. He is very attached towards just one person or family
and he’s very good with children. Like wolfdogs it’s very hard
to replace him in another family. When educated with a lot of patience they
learn quickly and they can be used for several disciplines like flyball, agility,
muching, dogscootering etc…This dog needs a lot of exercise, but as
a pack dog he wants to be close to you. This special breed isn’t suitable
for just anyone.
